Recently launched, on October 30th, 2022, it is ideal for Digital workers looking to relocate temporarily or live in Portugal. The DNV (Digital Nomad Visa) is available in two different ways:

Temporary (up to 1 year)
Long-term
  • Live and work in Portugal for up to a one-year period
  • Does not require tax residency in Portugal
  • No need to renew the visa (assuming you are temporarily staying)
  • Free to enter and exit the country in that same period, with the opportunity to renew it after its term
  • Live and work in Portugal
  • Residency permit with the opportunity to access the NHR tax regime
  • Need to renew the visa
  • After 5 years of living in the country, apply for Portuguese Citizenship

Eligibility and Qualification Long-term staying
  • EU or non-EU national
  • Clean criminal record
  • Minimum average monthly income of 4x the Portuguese minimum wage
  • Proof of fiscal residence and monthly income from the 3 months before the application
  • Proof of employment contract or promise of employment contract, and a declaration from the employer proving employment bond
  • Independent workers must show proof of their company’s contract or a non-affiliate contract or proposal for a non-affiliate contract
  • Proof of current tax residence
  • The Digital Nomad Visa is not a Residence Permit (even though you will be living in Portugal temporarily)
  • EU or non-EU national
  • Clean criminal record
  • Portuguese tax number (NIF) and Portuguese bank account
  • Minimum average monthly income of 4x the Portuguese minimum wage
  • Proof of fiscal residence and monthly income from the 3 months before the application
  • Proof of employment contract or promise of employment contract, and a declaration from the employer proving employment bond
  • Independent workers must show proof of their company’s contract or a non-affiliate contract or proposal for a non-affiliate contract
  • Proof of current tax residence
  • Cannot be absent from Portugal for 6 consecutive months or 8 non-consecutive months
